June New Feature Summary
07/04/2023

June’s new features are all about you and the way that you use SolarGrade. In other words: your user experience. Using both a macro and micro view of how teams use SolarGrade, we’ve implemented some changes to improve your day-to-day.

Sprinkled throughout the mix are, as always, a number of user-requested features. So, a big thank you for your feedback and participating in SolarGrade’s development!

Mobile App Features

Quick Access to Project Drawings

Wasted time is our nemesis. So when you spoke up about the need for quick access to site drawings without leaving an inspection, we made it our mission to deliver. But like Ethan Hunt, no mission is impossible for SolarGrade. Now, no matter where you are in an inspection, you can access the drawings by selecting the book icon in the bottom right corner of the app.

Interactive Layout Mode

Life seems so much easier when you can step back and look at the big picture. Same goes when you’re on a large site. When you tap the compass in the bottom left of your inspection to see the map layout, the map is now as interactive as a SolarGrade report. If you tap on a pin once, you will see the name of the issue. If you tap on the pin again, you will be taken to that particular issue within the inspection. It’s a feature that superpowers your remediation team.

Dark Mode

You can now opt into dark mode in the SolarGrade app. Give your eyes a break and save the squinting for the sun.

Default Issue View is Collapsed

We have changed the default display for all items to a collapsed view. You can expand each item one by one or bulk expand using the button at the top of the page. Our goal here is to provide an at-a-glance view of each category so that you can find the issue you’re looking for in a pinch.

Easily View All Photos in an Issue

Need to edit several photos for the issue you just flagged? When you click into one photo to add edits, you can navigate between the photos using the arrow buttons for ease of use.

Long Press to Edit Sections & Categories

Look. It’s summertime in the Northern Hemisphere. Every solar site here feels like it’s located in the fires of Mt. Doom. If you have to edit, copy, or delete a section or category, we don’t want you to have to worry about a tiny swipe with sweaty hands. So we’ve added an additional command: the long press. Long press on any section or category title to open up the editing menu tray.

Navigation Headers

We’ve introduced navigation headers at the top of all category and item pages. No matter where you are, you can see the parent category (if you’re on the item page) or parent section (if you’re on the category page). If anyone is going to get lost, we want it to be on-site*, not in an inspection..

*though you can always use our geolocation feature to find your way! 😉

Zoom In/Out on All Images

Sometimes you’re uploading an informational photo that is a reference table with tiny print, sometimes you’re taking informational photos of labeling on site. Now you can click into each photo and zoom in to soak up all the fine print your photos offer.

Wrap Text on Checklist Items

Protocol exists for a reason. If you’re following an inspection and the checklist text needs to be specifically worded (and perhaps long-winded), we can’t have it running off the edge of the page. Introducing: wrap text on all checklist items, so the field team and the office team are taking the same bearings.

SolarGrade Web App Features

CSV Export for Templates

Are you a manager and need to have a supervisor review and sign-off on a template before heading to site? No problem. You can now export a template to CSV for a quick internal review with the click of a button.

CSV Export for Project Data

At SolarGrade, we’re obsessed with data. We’ve included an option to export all project information data, so you can keep a record of them all in once place. It’s time you joined in on all the fun!

Last Sync Banner

For managers, transparency is important. This is why we’ve added a “last sync” banner to the inspection log. This notifies administration of the last date that your team synced the inspection with the server. This is a very helpful tool if you have a large team of inspectors on-site over the course of several days.

New Filter Capabilities for Task Table

Task table analytics just got a new makeover! Each column has a dropdown menu with all the available options, so you can drill down and get as micro with the data as your heart desires.

New Filter Capabilities for Project Table

A big win for our Business and Enterprise users with loads of projects! You can now filter your projects table using the dropdown menu for clients, in addition to the existing filters.
