1. What is SG Lite?

SG Lite is a simplified, web-based version of a site visit form that can be accessed on both desktop and mobile devices where there is cellular service. It enables SolarGrade users to share site visits or punchlists with external contractors who do not have access to SolarGrade. It does not require a SolarGrade license. This feature is designed to help teams close the loop by allowing subcontractors to remediate issues directly. SG Lite is available for enterprise accounts only.

All data added or edited through SG Lite will appear as authored by "SG Lite." If you'd like to remove this attribution, please create a report customization.

2. How to Share a New Site Visit
  • Go to the project in your SolarGrade account
  • Navigate to the "Site Visits" tab
  • Create a new site visit
  • Select the share icon to the right of the "Generate Report" button
  • Generate the shareable link
  • Copy the link
  • Email the link to one or more recipients
3. How to Share an Existing Site Visit
  • Go to the project in your SolarGrade account
  • Navigate to the "Site Visits" tab
  • Locate the desired site visit
  • Select the share icon in the same line item as the site visit
  • Generate the shareable link
  • Copy the link
  • Email the link to one or more recipients
4. How to Navigate the Site Visit Form
  • Click on the shared link
  • Review the site visit information on the first page and select "Complete Form" in the bottom right corner if everything looks correct
  • Use the "Project Details" button at the bottom of the page to return to the project details at any time
  • The site visit is organized into a nested list; confirm the scope of work with your client
  • Use the percentage box in the top left corner to track overall completion (note: punchlists will show 100%)
  • Each section also displays its own completion percentage
5. How to Interact with Issue Items in the Site Visit

When completing a site visit or punchlist form using SolarGrade Lite, here is how you can manage each issue item:

  • Mark an Issue as pass, fail, or n/a
    • Tap PASS if everything looks okay
      • Note: do NOT change the status of closed or remediated issues to Pass. Keep them as Fail but change the status to closed
    • Tap FAIL (or a yield icon) on any issue line to flag a problem
      • This will auto-populate a description explaining the issue, its significance, and next steps — editable as needed
  • Add Geolocation
    • Tap the Location button to manually drop a pin on the map or drawing. You can add multiple pins per issue
    • You can also tap the compass icon in the bottom left corner to use your device’s location
      • Note for desktop users: if you are on wifi, this will automatically set to your cable distribution center. This is less accurate than a mobile device, which pulls from a cell tower
  • Attach Photos
    • Upload images from your camera roll; trust your device’s GPS to automatically include location metadata if enabled
    • Use the in-app editor to annotate photos — draw shapes, add text, then tap Save
    • Optionally add captions for clarity
  • Set Criticality, Occurrence, & Prevalence
    • Criticality: Choose how serious the issue is
    • Occurrence: Defaults to the number of tagged locations but can be manually adjusted to a higher number
    • Prevalence: Select between Isolated, Prevalent, Endemic, or Systemic
  • Choose Status
    • Closed – if fixed on-site (include before-and-after photos)
    • Open – for issues needing future remediation
    • Observation – for non-critical concerns will not appear as tasks in reports

6. How to Submit a Site Visit for Approval

If you are the contractor and you have completed your work on the site visit form, you can submit it for approval.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the form
  • Select "Submit for Approval"
  • You will be unable to make any edits after submitting
7. How to Re-open a Site Visit for More Edits

If you're a SolarGrade user and want to reopen the form for additional edits:

  • Go to the project in your SolarGrade account
  • Navigate to the "Site Visits" tab
  • Select the share icon in the same line item as the site visit
  • For the appropriate link, change the status from "Pending Review" to "Open"
8. How to Close a Site Visit from Further Edits

Once all submitted information looks great and no more changes are needed:

  • Go to the project in your SolarGrade account
  • Navigate to the "Site Visits" tab
  • Select the share icon in the same line item as the site visit
  • For the appropriate link, change the status from "Pending Review" to "Closed"

This action will lock the form from any further edits by users outside of SolarGrade
